World leaders from Russia, France, Japan and other countries have extoled the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to end the crisis in Yemen, calling on the conflicting parties to study it carefully.
Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that his country welcomes the Saudi Arabia's initiative that aims for a comprehensive ceasefire across the country under the supervision of the United Nations.
"Moscow calls for an end to the long-standing armed conflict in the Republic of Yemen, in a manner that guarantees stability and national harmony of the country," the Russia foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Meanwhile, France also welcomed the initiative of Saudi Arabia to bring peace to Yemen, as well as the Yemeni government's decision to join the Saudi initiative.
"France called on the Houthis to respond positively and immediately to this proposal in order to end the crisis and the suffering of the Yemeni people," France foreign Ministry said in a statement.
France also urged all Yemeni parties to cease fire and negotiate a comprehensive political agreement, under the auspices of the United Nations.
Mauritania has welcomed Saudi Arabia's initiative to end the crisis in Yemen in order to reach a peace settlement under the auspices of the United Nations.
Mauritanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Tuesday that its country affirmed its demand for an immediate, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the Security Council Resolution No. 2216, the outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue and the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanisms.
Japan also has welcomed the initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and start a dialogue as soon as possible for a political solution.
Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Motegi Toshimitsu affirmed that the Japanese Government will support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths in order to end the conflict in Yemen.
