Saudi Arabia registered on Friday 2,378 new coronavirus cases; bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 262,772, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The ministry also said 2,241 more people have recovered from the disease; taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 215,731.

Of the new infections, 195 were in the holy city of Makkah; followed by Riyadh with 139 and Al Hofuf with 135 cases.

The other new infections were in different cities as well as provinces across Saudi Arabia.

Thirty-seven more people have died from the virus, taking the death toll to 2,672.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate in the Kingdom has crossed 82 percent, according to the health ministry.

The number of active coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia stands at 44,369; and 2,143 of them are in critical condition, the statement also added.
