Qatar's public prosecutor has ordered the arrest of the country's finance minister; the Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Thursday.
After reviewing relevant documents reports; the attorney general ordered the arrest of the Minister of Finance Ali Sharif Al-Emadi for questioning him over misuse of public funds and further abuse of power; according to the report.
The attorney general has ordered extensive investigations into crimes alleged in the documents.
The report did not provide other details also about the investigation; and the nature of the case against Al-Emadi was not immediately clear.
Al-Emadi has been serving as the finance minister since 2013 and is a board member of Qatar Investment Authority; the country's $300 billion sovereign wealth fund.
