The French President receives the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza

The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, received on Friday, May 24, 2024, the members of the ministerial committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit under the chairmanship of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Al-Safadi, and His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Sameh Shoukry.

The members of the Ministerial Committee and the French President discussed the dangerous developments in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression and the need to intensify efforts for an immediate and complete ceasefire in the Strip to ensure the protection of civilians and the delivery of adequate and sustainable humanitarian aid to all parts of the Strip.

The members of the ministerial committee stressed the importance of establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian State on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the importance of international recognition of the Palestinian State, especially the permanent members of the Security Council, so that the Palestinian people can obtain their legitimate rights and achieve a comprehensive and just peace for all.

The Ministerial Committee members urged the international community to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for violations and practices that violate international law and international humanitarian law.

They also emphasized their complete rejection of the Israeli occupation's control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and its prevention of the entry of urgent humanitarian and relief aid into the Strip.
