Teacher Aminah bint Abdullah Al-Zahrani, a vision impairment instructor at integration classes of Jeddah Governorate Education, has invented an Arabic tablet for mathematical operations for blind people.
Al-Zahrani has been granted a patent from the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and has had her invention registered at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The innovation, which took 6 years to complete, targets people with visual disabilities and is a learning tablet in Braille.
The idea of the invention emerged in the integration schools of Al-Nour Institutes.
The tablet enables visually impaired students to carry out mathematical calculations and learn letters, words, and sentences, in Arabic and English, and some other subjects such as chemistry.
Al-Zahrani called on all institutes and integration programs for visually impaired students to use the educational tablet and its applications gradually, starting with primary grades.
