Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Governor of Riyadh region Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz attended on Saturday the annual horse racing ceremony for the Founder’s Cup, late King Abdulaziz bin Abdurrahman, for Purebred Arabian Horses and Purebred Thoroughbred Horses.
The cup is organized by the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia at King Abdulaziz Racetrack in Al-Janadriyah, Riyadh.
Upon his arrival, the Governor of Riyadh region was received by Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; Prince Bandar bin Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Saudi Equestrian Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jockey Club; Prince Abdullah bin Fahd bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Abdurrahman, President of the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation, and Member of the Board of Directors of the Jockey Club and the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee; Prince Abdullah bin Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; and Prince Fahd bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz.
The ceremony commenced with the playing of the Saudi royal anthem, followed by the start of the eleventh race dedicated to the "Founder's Cup" for local purebred Arabian horses aged four years.
The prize for this race is SAR 5 million for a distance of 1,600 meters.
