Ministerial Committee Assigned by Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit Holds Official Talks with Canadian Foreign Minister

Members of the Ministerial Committee, mandated by the Riyadh-hosted Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, led by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, held an official meeting on Saturday in Ottawa with the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Melanie Joly.

The meeting witnessed the participation of the Foreign Minister of the State of Palestine, Riyadh Al-Malki, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, Hakan Fidan.

The meeting tackled the developments in the Gaza Strip and their repercussions, including the military escalation against unarmed civilians. During the meeting, members of the committee emphasized the imperative for an immediate and urgent ceasefire to restore security and stability in the strip.

They called on the international community to act swiftly and shoulder its responsibilities in protecting civilians from the Israeli occupation’s killing machine, stressing that the discussion about the future of Gaza and the Palestinian cause should come after an immediate ceasefire and the calming of the unjustified military escalation.

They also underscored the need for serious and immediate steps to ensure the establishment of humanitarian corridors for delivering relief assistance into Gaza, expressing rejection of restricting the entry of aid to the strip.

Additionally, they stressed the importance of creating a genuine political climate to establish an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, based on the relevant international resolutions, expressing rejection of discussing the Gaza Strip separately from the Palestinian cause.
