Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives a Phone Call from UN Secretary-General

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received today a phone call from United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

At the outset of the call, the UN Secretary General referred to the letter he addressed to the Security Council, invoking for the first time since he assumed office Article 99 of the United Nations Charter to demand that the Security Council confront the grave danger against the Gaza Strip, which threatens the occurrence of a humanitarian catastrophe.

In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's appreciation and great support for the justified and important step taken by UN Secretary General to invoke Article 99 of the United Nations Charter. The two sides stressed the importance of exerting more efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire.
