The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women selected by acclamation the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as president of the commission (CSW69) in 2025.

The 69th annual commission (CSW69) is the United Nation’s largest annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohamed Al-Wasel will be the Kingdom’s first permanent representative to the United Nations to chair the UNCSW since its establishment in 1946.

UNCSW is a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), one of the principal organs of the UN organization.

The commission meets annually to evaluate the progress achieved in woman empowerment and formulate the criteria and policies to enhance the status of woman worldwide.

The Kingdom’s chairmanship of the committee comes as an affirmation of its interest in cooperation within the framework of the international community in enhancing women’s rights and empowerment, and it is also in line with the qualitative achievements achieved by the Kingdom in this field, thanks to the special attention and care the Kingdom’s leadership pays to woman empowerment and rights.

The Saudi Vision 2030 also included priorities and targets that focused on women’s full participation at all levels and investing their energies in a manner consistent with their enormous capabilities.
