Saudi Arabia Reviews Domestic and International Efforts to Promote Children's Rights

Saudi Arabia affirmed that its regulations areconcerned with the protection of children from various forms of abuse, neglect,discrimination and exploitation, and to provide a safe and sound environmentfor children to develop their skills and abilities and protect thempsychologically and physically.

The Kingdom also explained that its regulationregarding child protection came to ensure the protection of children from allforms of violence, and contribute to the implementation of obligations Underthe UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which the Kingdom acceded in1996.

This came during the Kingdom's speech deliveredby Reem bint Fahd Al-Omair, 3rd Secretary and Member of the Kingdom's PermanentMission to the United Nations in the general debate on the rights of the childwithin the work of the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee during the74th session of the UN General Assembly.
