Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, SaudiMinister of Foreign Affairs, attended the ceremony held in Washington, D.C, onthe occasion of the 75th anniversary of the historic meeting between the lateKing Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud and former US President Franklin D.Roosevelt.
The ceremony was held under the patronage ofPrincess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to theUnited States of America, in the presence of the grandson of US PresidentRoosevelt, H. Delano Roosevelt, President of U.S.-Saudi Arabian BusinessCouncil and senior US and Saudi diplomatic and leadership figures.
In his speech during the ceremony, the Ministerof Foreign Affairs pointed to the importance of this historic meeting betweenthe two great leaders and the solid partnership it has achieved between the twocountries that had a great impact on the region and entire world.
The Foreign Minister also lauded successachieved by the two countries during the past 75 years and their efforts toestablish peace in the region, combat terrorism, maintain a balance of energysources, and trade and economic exchange.
For her part, Princess Reema bint Bandar binSultan stressed during her speech the importance of Saudi-US relations thatbegan 75 years ago in February 1945, pointing to the achievements of KingAbdulaziz and describing him as the great leader.
She also praised the role played by PresidentFranklin Roosevelt who led the United States during the depression and WorldWar II.
At the end of her speech, Princess Reema BintBandar thanked the attendees for their participation in the 75th anniversaryceremony of the meeting of two great leaders whose great achievements broughtsecurity and stability to the world.
