Riyadh Season Boulevard zone’s visitors hit a record in 24 hours

The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA),Turki Al-Sheikh confirmed that the visitors of the Boulevard zone during theRiyadh season has reached, within 24 hours, 1.2 million visitors, hitting arecord.

Turki Al-Sheikh tweeted: "Riyadh traffic police estimated we haveexceeded 600K which means ten times the capacity".

Riyadh Season Boulevard zone opens with spectacular parade, thoughtto be the biggest parade in Saudi Arabia to date. More than 1,500 performersand 25 floats took part in a parade and carnival on Thursday night thatofficially launched Riyadh Season's Boulevard zone. The crowds that gatheredfor the fun-packed event were also treated to motorcycle displays, fireworksand other surprises.

Al-Sheikh said: "The total attendance at the Boulevard within 24hours from 9 pm Thursday to 9 pm Friday, reached 1.2 million visitors".

He also explained that this statistic is provided by the Telecommunications Company and the General Administration of Traffic.

The Boulevard site includes more than 50 local and internationalstores, art theaters, restaurants, sports, music and theatrical events, as wellas an open cinema and dancing fountain shows.

The Boulevard site spans over 400,000 square meters, with nineevents and entertainment options for all ages.

In addition, the theater of the artist Mohammad Abdo, which canaccommodate 22,000 spectators, and the theater of the late Abu Bakr Salem witha capacity of 6,000 people, in addition to the theater of the late Bakr Al-Shadiwith a capacity of 2,000 people.

The ambitious 2019 Saudi Seasons initiative, the first of its kindin the region, was launched in February and includes 11 local seasons coveringmost parts of Saudi Arabia. Designed to promote the fledgling Saudientertainment sector and boost tourism, it is attracting some of the biggestnames in world entertainment.
