The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its regret over the United States' decision to lift the legal immunity of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The OIC emphasized the necessity for all countries to uphold their obligations under the UN Charter and relevant resolutions, including the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations.

The organization reaffirmed the indispensable and irreplaceable role of UNRWA, which serves as a lifeline for millions of Palestinian refugees, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which has been facing a genocidal war for the past 17 months.

The OIC called on the United States to reconsider its decision regarding UNRWA, resume its funding, and pressure Israel to fulfill its obligations toward the agency, which represents the international community’s responsibility to provide essential services to Palestinian refugees and protect their rights until the implementation of UN resolutions, especially Resolution 194.

The OIC also renewed its call on the international community to put an end to the crimes of genocide, starvation, and blockade being committed by the Israeli occupation, and to allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
