The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued a statement on Friday strongly condemning the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip and forcibly displace about one million Palestinians from Gaza City and the north of the Strip to the south.
The OIC considered this decision an escalation in a series of crimes, including genocide, destruction, starvation, displacement, and blockade of Gaza Strip.
The OIC affirmed that these crimes constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a blatant defiance of relevant UN resolutions and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, including the provisional measures ordered by the court.
According to the statement, the organization holds Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for the consequences of these crimes, which exacerbate the unprecedented human suffering in Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, the OIC strongly condemned the dangerous escalation of crimes committed by extremist settler groups under the protection of Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank.
These crimes include continued colonial settlement expansion, land confiscation, home demolitions, repeated attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites, and the continued seizure of Palestinian tax revenues.
The organization considers these actions as blatant violations of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
The OIC called on the UN Security Council to take immediate and decisive action to assume its responsibilities towards imposing a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, ensuring the entry of sufficient and unhindered humanitarian aid and basic needs to all parts of the Gaza Strip, and providing effective international protection for the Palestinian people.
The organization also urged the council to take the necessary measures to end the Israeli occupation and enable the Palestinian people to realize the sovereignty of their independent state over the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.
