Arab League Secretary General Welcomes Armenia's Recognition of Palestinian State

Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit has welcomed Armenia's official recognition of the State of Palestine, calling it a brave decision that demonstrates Armenia's commitment to being on the right side of history.

In a statement today, Aboul Gheit emphasized that the growing number of countries recognizing the State of Palestine reflects the international community’s widespread belief that the occupation must end and the two-state solution must be implemented. He also said that this recognition marks a significant step toward establishing a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 lines.

Aboul Gheit urged all countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to do so as soon as possible, emphasizing that such a decision would be morally, legally, and politically correct.

He stressed that recognizing the State of Palestine is a crucial step toward achieving peace and ending the occupation, as well as a tangible expression of support for the two-state solution.
