Kuwait summoned on Friday the Iranian ambassador to Kuwait. This was over claims from Tehran that Kuwaiti territory was used in the American strike that killed Iranian top commander Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad on January 3.

Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned the Iranian ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammad Irani. There, he met with Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah, reported the Kuwait news agency (KUNA).

Al-Jarallah denounced the repeated statement by the commander of the Air Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. He alleged the Ali Al-Salem's base in Kuwait participated, along with other bases in the region, in the operation that eliminated Soleimani.

Al-Jarallah expressed Kuwait's resentment that such claims would again resurface. He also stressed Kuwait's categorical denial of the participation of any aircraft launched from Ali Al-Salem base. Al-Jarallah stressed that the army chief of staff had made similar denials.

Al-Jarallah urged the ambassador to explain to officials in Iran the aforementioned Kuwait position. He also stressed that such statements, which harm relations between the two countries, should not be repeated.
