First Saudi Forum for Biosafety and Biosecurity Kicked off in Riyadh

The First Saudi Forum for Biosafety and Biosecurity,organized by the Saudi Society for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, was kicked offat the headquarters of the College of Medicine at King Saud University today.

 The Forum aims to raiseawareness about biosecurity and biosafety in both medical and researchlaboratories and urge the government and private sectors to adhere toprinciples of biosecurity and biosafety, in pursuit of health security, in linewith international covenants and treaties, according to the Kingdom's Vision2030.

The Forum discussed developments of biosafety andbiosecurity, its variables and the challenges it faces, including, the role ofbiosecurity in enhancing national security, the role of national laboratoriesto enhance biosecurity, and strengthening national security against biologicalhazards.
