Al-Waleed bin Talal opens the most luxurious movie theater in the Middle East

Al-Waleed bin Talal opens a movie theater in the Kingdom Centre Tower in Riyadh in the presence of the regional manager of Vox cinema for projects in Saudi Arabia.

This movie theatre was established by a partnership between the Kingdom Holding Company and Vox cinema to be classified as the most luxurious one in the Middle East region with 8 projection rooms of different large spaces and the availability of catering food in them. It is to present the biggest cinema productions of Hollywood, Bollywood, and the Arab World.

Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, during the opening ceremony, stated that it's a matter of a great pride to him to witness the opening of the most luxurious movie theater in the Capital, Riyadh and even in the Middle East.

He confirmed that Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has been remarkably successful in taking the Kingdom out of the twelfth century and put it into the twentieth century through the various social reforms such as legally permitting women to drive and entering the sport playgrounds, adding to opening the movie theatres.

This opening itself is one of the great rewards of this revolution of social reform, Saudi community is being witnessed. He also added that "Rotana" company, as one of the Kingdom Holding company group that has a long history in cinema, is to undoubtedly contribute further to supporting the Saudi film industry that will be a primary source of increasing the national income of the Kingdom, which will, in turn, result in raising the national income per capita.

Besides, he expressed his happiness with the strategic alliance between the Kingdom Holding Company and Al-Futtaim Group in the UAE.

This happened in tandem with Cinema Build KSA Forum that was held on 14-15 April to discuss the latest technologies in the design and construction of movie theaters, under the sponsorship of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media ("GCAM").

It's notable that the number of cinemas in Saudi Arabia is expected to reach 80 cinemas with about 700 competitive world-class screens by 2020, according to Bader Al-Zahrani, chief executive of GCAM.

Al Zahrani explained that GCAM has developed a clear road map to achieve its objectives that the Kingdom become one of the leading states in the cinema world, especially with its efforts to encourage national companies and attract foreign investments to enter this field.

The forum, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, brought together specialists and regional and international experts at a time when the Saudi cinema industry is witnessing a significant development. He also pointed out that industry of Saudi cinema will be one of the sources of income diversification in the entertainment sector, which will contribute to the increase in GDP as well as the increase of spending on domestic entertainment.
