The Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman received a phone call from US Defense Secretary Mark Esper, the official SPA news agency reported on Monday.

The US Defense Secretary affirmed, during the call, that his country fully supports the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its stance towards the recent attacks on two oil plants in Abqaiq and Hijrat Khurais, pointing out that his country is studying all available options to face these terrorist attacks on Saudi oil facilities and civilian objects.

The US Defense Secretary praised the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting international efforts to address the Iranian danger that threatens the global maritime navigation.

For his part, the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman confirmed that the Iranian threats were not only directed against the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but its effect reaches the Middle East and the world as well.

The US Defense Secretary, Mark Esper said on his official account on Twitter, "This weekend I spoke with the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad bin Salman, and Iraqi Minister of Defense Al-Shammary about the recent attack on Saudi Arabian oil facilities".

"The United States military, with our interagency team, is working with our partners to address this unprecedented attack and defend the international rules-based order that is being undermined by Iran," Esper tweeted.

Esper also wrote that he had attended a White House meeting shortlybefore to assess the situation with President Donald Trump, who said on Sundaythat he was "ready to respond" to those responsible for the terroristattacks.
