Makkah Governor Region Hands over Kiswa to Senior Caretaker of Kaaba

On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, handed over today the Holy Kaaba Kiswa (Cover) to Dr. Saleh bin Zain Al-Abidin Al-Shaibi, the senior caretaker of the Holy Kaaba, in the presence of President General of the General Presidency of Two Holy Mosques' Affairs Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais.

Sheikh Dr. Al-Sudais stressed that the handing over of the Kiswa is a representation of the leadership's great attention and care for the Holy Kaaba. It also represents the leadership's keenness to harness all capabilities of King Abdulaziz Complex to manufacture the Holy Kaaba Kiswa.

The Kiswa is made of special natural silk that is dyed black. The height of the Kiswa is 14 meters, and in the upper third of it there is a belt with a width of 95 centimeters and length of 47 meters, and consists of 16 pieces surrounded by a square shape of Islamic decoration. More than 200 employees work on making the Holy Kaaba Kiswa.
