AI a vital tool for detecting vulnerabilities, expert says
Artificial intelligence is now a key method for identifying system vulnerabilities, according to the vice president of the Saudi AI Governance Association.
Key Takeaways
AIThe vice president of the Saudi Association for AI Governance, Dr. Intisar Al-Kiyal, said that “artificial intelligence has become an important tool for detecting vulnerabilities.”
Speaking in an interview with Al-Ikhbariya Radio, Dr. Al-Kiyal explained that “AI can analyze large volumes of code, compare patterns, and detect abnormal behavior much faster than was previously possible without AI.”
She added that “this has helped uncover errors that went undetected for years due to the complexity of systems or the sheer size of codebases. These capabilities are not limited to defense and detection—they can also be exploited by attackers.”
Dr. Al-Kiyal continued, “Attackers can use these tools to identify weaknesses or analyze software. The key question is who will use AI tools, how they will be deployed, and how they will be regulated, highlighting the need for further development of system security.”
