Visual Arts Commission launches 'Open Studio' at JAX District

The Visual Arts Commission is organizing the 'Open Studio' event from July 28 to 30 at JAX District in Diriyah, as part of the 'Iltqa Art Residency' program, with the participation of leading local and international artists.

The event marks the conclusion of the second edition of the 'Art Residency' program, which spanned three months in Riyadh and included fourteen artists from Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Serbia, China, Japan, and Palestine. The program focused on research, experimentation, and knowledge exchange, with artists developing new projects across various disciplines.

Participation from Saudi cultural institutions

The program featured contributions from the Diriyah Center for Future Arts, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wirth), the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), as well as the King Fahd National Library and the National Museum. These collaborations enriched the artists' experiences and fostered knowledge and expertise exchange.

An interactive experience for the public

The 'Open Studio' offers visitors the chance to tour the studios, view artworks developed during the residency, and engage with artists through a public program that includes performances, workshops, and discussions, creating opportunities for dialogue and showcasing works in their early stages.

The 'Iltqa Art Residency' program is one of the initiatives through which the Visual Arts Commission aims to support artistic practices and promote knowledge exchange, contributing to the development of the Kingdom's art scene and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
