The Saudi Red Sea Authority has issued operating licenses for Amaala and Shura Island marinas to Red Sea Global, advancing marine tourism services.
Key Takeaways
AIThe Saudi Red Sea Authority today granted Red Sea Global the operating licenses for the Amaala and Shura Island marinas in Riyadh, supporting the readiness of these facilities to welcome yachts and enhance integrated marine services at developed Red Sea destinations.
The licenses were handed over by Mohammed Bukhari, Executive Vice President for Coastal Tourism Operations at the Authority, to Raed Albasit, Chief Operating and Sustainability Officer at Red Sea Global.
According to the Authority's statement, the licenses were issued in line with the regulatory framework for the design and operation of tourist marinas, which governs marina operators and design activities, and sets health, safety, and environmental requirements to ensure high-quality services for yacht owners and coastal visitors.
The Saudi Red Sea Authority is also working through its regulatory system to create a transparent environment for operators and investors, strengthen confidence in the sector, and link the growth of coastal tourism to quality experiences and marine environmental protection.
Yacht network and marina details
Red Sea Global has launched the "Yacht Network," which brings the management and operation of its marinas and yacht clubs under a single administration, offering an integrated experience for yacht owners, captains, and crews, and facilitating access to berthing and marine services across destinations.
The network includes Amaala Marina, part of the Amaala Yacht Club, offering 119 berths, and Shura Island Marina, the largest tourist marina on an island in the Kingdom, with 159 berths. Together, the two marinas provide a total capacity of 278 berths and can accommodate yachts up to 120 meters in length.
The Amaala Yacht Club, spanning nearly 7,900 square meters, features a range of facilities and services for yacht owners and visitors, complementing the marina to deliver a seamless experience of sailing, hospitality, and marine services, thereby enhancing the destination's appeal for yacht tourism.
Supporting Saudi Vision 2030 goals
The Authority added that this step reflects the synergy between its role in building and regulating the coastal tourism sector and Red Sea Global's efforts in developing destinations, facilities, and tourism services. This is achieved through establishing regulatory frameworks, policies, standards, issuing licenses and permits, and encouraging investment, all of which support sector growth, enhance the Red Sea's competitiveness as a global tourism destination, and contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
