Austria breaks all-time heat record for second time in 24 hours

Austria has recorded its highest-ever temperature for the second time in 24 hours, with 41.2°C measured in Deutsch Altenburg, Lower Austria, according to preliminary figures from the national meteorological service, GeoSphere Austria, on Wednesday.

This reading surpassed the previous record set just a day earlier in the outskirts of Vienna, where temperatures reached 41°C.

Meteorologists do not expect relief in the eastern part of the country until Friday, while temperatures in the west are forecast to drop below 30°C on Thursday.
