Diabetes specialist explains how to interpret HbA1c test results

Dr. Youssef Al-Zaheb, a consultant in diabetes and family medicine, has explained how to interpret the results of an HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) test.

Posting on his account on the X platform, he stated that a result of 5.6% or lower is considered normal. If the result falls between 5.7% and 6.4%, it indicates a prediabetic stage, meaning there is a risk of developing diabetes and increased attention is needed.

Al-Zaheb added that a result of 6.5% or higher falls within the range for diagnosing diabetes. Confirmation is usually required if there are no clear symptoms.
