Kuwait Denies Drone Used to Attack Soleimani Flew from its Territories

Kuwait denied on Sunday that the drone killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and deputy chief of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in Baghdad last Friday was launched from its territories.

The General Staff of Kuwait's Army denied using country's military bases in attacking certain targets in neighboring countries.

In a press statement, the General Staff described the circulated reports as untrue.

It urged publishers of such fabricated claims to pursue credibility and accuracy in their reporting.

The Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement affiliated with the PMF had earlier alleged that the American aircraft that had carried out the attack near Baghdad International Airport was launched from Kuwait.

It denied that the MQ-9 drone, which killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Qassem Soleimani, had flown from Qatar.

It added: "The only airport for this plane is Kuwait, specifically at Ali Al Salem Air Force Base".

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah instructed on Sunday coordination with friendly countries over recent regional developments.

He also invited military and security chiefs to a cabinet meeting Monday.
