King Salman to Chair G20 Virtual Summit on Coronavirus Thursday

King Salman Bin Abdulaziz will chair a meeting for the leaders from the G20 major economies through a video conference on Thursday to discuss the coronavirus epidemic.

A statement published late on Tuesday said King Salman will chair the G20 meeting "to advance a coordinated global response to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as its human and economic implications."

Leaders from invited countries, Spain, Jordan, Singapore, and Switzerland, as well as international organizations are to join G20 members; United Nations (UN); World Bank Group (WBG); the World Health Organization (WHO); World Trade Organization (WTO); the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO); the Financial Stability Board (FSB); the International Labor Organization (ILO); International Monetary Fund (IMF); as well as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the SPA reported.

Regional organizations will also be represented in the G20 meeting by Vietnam the Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN); South Africa the Chair of the African Union (AU); the United Arab Emirates the Chair of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); as well as Rwanda the Chair of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), SPA added.
