Saudi Arabia’s King Salman rang Iraqi President Berham Saleh on Saturday to discuss the importance of de-escalating regional tensions, the Saudi news agency reported, after Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani was killed in a U.S. air strike.
The king told Saleh
that Saudi Arabia supports the stability and security of Iraq.
During the telephone conversation, the latest developments in the region were discussed between King Salman and the Iraqi President.
King Salman confirmed the Kingdom’s keenness on the security and stability of Iraq and the importance of staying calm and defusing the crisis in the region, in addition to taking all measures to reduce tension.
For his part, the Iraqi President expressed his thanks to and appreciation of Saudi King, commending the Kingdom’s interest in Iraq’s security and stability.
