Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman received on Tuesday a telephone call from British Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Discussions focused on the partnership between Riyadh and London, specifically in the defense field.

They also tackled efforts to bolster regional and international security.

Wallace expressed Britain's appreciation for Saudi Arabia's role in combating threats to stability in the region; protecting sea lanes and securing freedom of navigation.

He stressed that his country was keen on boosting defense relations with Saudi Arabia, especially in military defense exports.

For his part, Prince Khalid tweeted that talks focused on "bilateral defense and military cooperation; between our two countries and ways of strengthening it within the framework our historic relations."

Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah later received a telephone call from Wallace to discuss bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region.
