The 4thMeeting of the Executive Council of the Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU) waskicked off on Thursday in Jeddah, under the chairmanship of the Minister ofMedia and President of IBU Executive Council Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah.
The Ministerof Media gave a speech in which he welcomed everyone, wishing them a pleasantstay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hoping that the meeting will achievedesired goals.
The Ministeradded that this meeting comes at a time where the need to activate jointIslamic institutions action is growing, especially in the field of media, tomeet growing challenges and to formulate a solid media discourse that servesand defends our common issues. He also said that there is no doubt that thisinstitution is one of the most important international institutions that can berelied on in this aspect, given its great experience in dealing with mediaissues and being one of the specialized OIC bodies that is counted on to play apivotal role in coordinating joint media work in the field of radio and TV atthe level of the Islamic world.
The Ministerof Media stressed that these challenges require working to develop a unifiedstrategy in dealing with them efficiently and effectively, based on studyingthe best international models and coordinating the efforts of Islamic countriesin the media in a way that ensures building a sound and correct global mentalimage of them. He expressed his hope that today's meeting will contribute to achievingthis by developing mechanisms of the Islamic Broadcasting Union andstrengthening its international presence.
