IRENA Assembly: Saudi Arabia Seeks boom in renewable energy sector

The President of the King Abdullah City for Atomic andRenewable Energy (KA-CARE), Dr. Khaled bin Saleh Al-Sultan asserted thatthe Kingdom is working within the framework of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 andthe National Transformation Program 2020 to build a sustainable renewableenergy sector that includes industries, services, localization of technologyand qualification of human cadres.

He also assured the necessity of finding a balanced mix ofenergy in the Kingdom through the introduction of renewable energy sources toachieve growth and prosperity and enhance energy security, including solarenergy, wind energy, geothermal energy, and the conversion of waste intoenergy.

He also pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is oneof the leading and keen countries to follow the needs of arid climatic regionsto enable entry of renewable energy.

This came during the participation of the Kingdom of SaudiArabia in the tenth session of the Assembly of the International RenewableEnergy Agency (IRENA).
