In her first visit to Saudi Arabia, Singapore president holds talks in Riyadh

President of the Republic of SingaporeHalimah Yacob arrived in Riyadh last night on the first official visit of aSingaporean president to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the invitation ofSaudi King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz.

Prior to the talks, King Salman handed overYacob King Abdul-Aziz's necklace.

Later, they discussed the development of relations between Saudi Arabia and Singapore, opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in all fields, as well as a number of issues of common interest.

During her visit, Yacob will attend areception with Singaporeans residing in Saudi Arabia. She will also visithistorical, cultural and religious sites in Riyadh, Jeddah and Makkah.

A business delegation organized by theSingapore Business Federation and Enterprise Singapore will visit Saudi Arabiain conjunction with the state visit.

In her second state to Kuwait, Yacob calledon on Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and had meetings withseveral senior Kuwaiti leaders. Emir Sheikh Sabah also hosted a banquet for theSingaporean president.

During her trip, Yacob also met withSingaporean students studying in Kuwait and visit the Sheikh Abdullah Al SalemCultural Centre.

Yacob's accompanying group also included Mr.Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources andMinister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs; Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of Statefor Trade and Industry; Members of Parliament Ms. Foo Mee Har and Ms. JoanPereira, as well as officials from the President's Office, Ministry of ForeignAffairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Ministry for the Environment andWater Resources.
