Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General meets US Naval Forces Commander

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani held a meeting on Monday with the Commander of United States Naval Forces Central Command, the Commander of US Fifth Fleet, Admiral James Malloy.

During the meeting, they discussed relations of joint defense cooperation between the GCC countries and the United States of America, the efforts being exerted by US naval forces to protect maritime navigation and ensure freedom of the international trade in the Arab Gulf region and the Red Sea, and ways to enhance Gulf-American cooperation in this field.

The twosides also discussed endeavors being exerted by USA to mobilize regional andinternational efforts to ensure the security and safety of energy supplies fromthe region to protect the global economy.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Negotiations Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaisheq, a number of senior officials in the US Naval Command and senior officers in military affairs at the GCC General Secretariat.
