President of Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat) Dr. Fahad Bin Sulaiman Al-Tekhaifi concluded his participation in the second meeting of the Friends of the Chair Group on Economic Statistics, which was held over three days at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The Kingdom's participation in this meeting is an extensionof its international efforts and its interaction with the internationalcommunity with regard to international statistical systems, as the Kingdom isone of the leading countries in the field of statistics, and this group wasestablished on the recommendation of the United Nations Statistical Commission,as Saudi Arabia is a founding member.
The Group aims to continue dialogue with the internationaleconomic community and focus on meeting the needs of international economicpolicies for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in collaborationwith the United Nations system of economists, and the participation ofeconomists from the World Bank and regional development banks.
The paper presented by Dr. Fahad Al-Tekhaifi reviewed theefforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of building and updatingeconomic statistical frameworks through constructive cooperation between theGeneral Authority for Statistics with various authorities in the Kingdom ofSaudi Arabia to build a comprehensive, integrated, accurate andhighly-responsive statistical system that meets all requirements at thenational, regional and international levels.
