The Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) has been holding discussions with a team from the United Nations on the role of the council as an umbrella for the business sector in Saudi Arabia.

The council is also seeking to promote the participation of the Saudi private sector in implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This is through the UN Global Compact Initiative; which is the largest voluntary initiative that seeks to advance corporate social responsibility. It also includes over 12,000 enterprises and organizations from 170 countries around the world.

This cooperation comes in line with the council's objectives of building strategic partnerships. This is in order to strengthen Saudi Arabia's economic position and its role at the global level. It also comes to underscore the active role of the Saudi private sector; in implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The council and the UN team also held a workshop to discuss the desired role of the CSC. This is to support private sector companies to join the UN Global Compact; and align their commercial and operational strategies with 10 global principles related to human rights, labor, environment; combating corruption and the implementation of sustainable development goals that are mostly in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Through this cooperation, the CSC will work with UN experts and specialists. This is to enable Saudi companies to engage in the global initiative. This is in order to effectively empower the Saudi private sector in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
