Bahrain appreciates US decision on Iranian oil sanctions

The Kingdom of Bahrain has welcomed the decision of the sanction on importers of Iranian oil, that announced by the US Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo.

"This stepis crucial in order to further support and strengthen efforts exerted incombatting terrorism and eradicating Iran's malign and dangerous activitiesthat aim to undermine security and stability and support terroristorganizations and militias in the region." Read a statement issued by theBahrain News Agency (BNA).

"Bahraincommends the pivotal role of the United States in its relentless efforts andstrategic decisions to eliminate violence, extremism and terrorism, and allthose supporting or funding it at the regional and international levels,"the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

"The Kingdomof Bahrain reiterated its unequivocal support for the US and called for theneed to enhance international efforts aimed at eradicating the Iranian regime'smalign activities and policies that threaten security and peace, and end itsattempts to spread chaos in the region and force it to respect the independenceand sovereignty of states and not interfering in their internal affairs." Thestatement concluded.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Saudi Arabia and other member countries of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) are capable of controlling the oil market while ending exemptions that allow some countries to purchase the Iranian oil.
