Fair Mechanism to Deal with Future Intra-Gulf Disputes Being Planned, Al-Hajraf

Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, Secretary of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), said that the dispute within the Council represents a challenge to joint cooperation and a common concern for all the GCC countries.

He affirmed that Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was working to solve the dispute with Gulf and international support, adding that a fair mechanism would be put in place to deal with any disagreements that could arise in the future.

The path of joint cooperation witnessed many challenges during the past four decades. Adding to several achievements and gains that have been realized in several fields and on more than one level; he remarked in a televised speech on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the founding of the GCC.

The secretary-general said that the wisdom and vision of the GCC leaders enabled the Council to overcome these challenges. Besides, preserving its gains and achievements for the development, security and prosperity of its countries and citizens.

Al-Hajraf also noted that emerging challenges required "collective thinking and cooperation to confront them and deal with their repercussions."

On the outbreak of coronavirus; he underlined that GCC states must strengthen joint work and collective willingness. This is to deal with this unprecedented crisis and to prepare for the post-pandemic world.

He also added the GCC must unite efforts to deal with the economic repercussions of the virus; which represent the biggest challenge facing the world today.
