Syrian Petroleum Company: Gas export pipeline blast near Hasakah was sabotage

The Syrian Petroleum Company announced that an explosion occurred at 4 a.m. on Tuesday on the gas export pipeline from the Al-Jabsa gas plant in rural Hasakah province, causing a halt in pumping through the line. The company stated that initial investigations, following an immediate site inspection, indicated the blast was the result of deliberate sabotage.

In a statement on its Telegram channel, the company said that wells were isolated, safety valves closed, and the site fully secured, with no injuries reported among workers. Company teams began work at the site immediately, deploying the necessary equipment, while repair crews started round-the-clock operations.

The company noted that the interruption in gas flow affected the supply to several power generation turbines, adding that it is working with the Syrian Electricity Company to compensate for the shortfall using available alternatives.

The company also said it is coordinating with relevant authorities to continue the investigation and pursue those responsible for the attack.

It added that additional measures are being implemented to enhance the protection of its oil and gas facilities and transport lines, stressing that targeting these installations is an attack on a service vital to every household and on the efforts of staff working under challenging conditions.

The company confirmed that work is ongoing to restore the pipeline to service, urging the public to rely solely on its official channels for information about the incident and to disregard unofficial reports.

On January 24, the Syrian Petroleum Company began pumping raw gas from the Jabsa fields in Hasakah to the Al-Furqlus gas plant in rural Homs at a pressure of 35 bar, marking a significant step to boost production and secure gas for power generation.
