The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) revealed the completion of five development projects in the honey sector, with a total value exceeding SAR38.2 million, across several regions of the Kingdom, contributing to the provision of local bee products, achieving honey self-sufficiency, and supporting food security, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Spokesperson for Saudi Reef Majid Al-Buraikan noted that the honey sector is considered one of the vital sectors the program seeks to develop through supporting smallholder producers, developing value chains, empowering beekeepers, improving product quality, and expanding marketing opportunities.

He added that the completion of these projects contributes to achieving several technical and economic benefits for workers in the sector by providing job opportunities, training workers in modern methods and technologies, enhancing the role of beekeeping in crop pollination and improving biodiversity, in addition to providing local bee products throughout the year without the need for imports, spreading modern technologies in pollination, breeding, and production, and reducing the use of traditional methods in a way that contributes to increasing production.
