According to a study published by the Digital Government Authority, generative AI is poised to revolutionize government services, significantly enhancing overall performance and efficiency. Estimates show that AI could contribute approximately $135 billion to the Kingdom’s GDP by 2030.
The study highlights a wide range of potential applications across key sectors, including healthcare, education, transportation, energy, tourism, and housing.
The expected direct benefits of generative AI adoption include reducing operational costs through automation of repetitive tasks, boosting productivity and efficiency by accelerating access to information and improving data management, enhancing user experience by delivering personalized, seamless services, and driving innovation through advanced data analysis and the generation of new solutions.
The study incorporated interviews with 22 government leaders and technical experts, revealing that 94% believe generative AI will accelerate digital transformation, while 90% expect it to contribute to the creation of new job opportunities.
It also emphasized the importance of developing digital skills, fostering knowledge-sharing platforms, and crafting effective technical policies.
The Kingdom is projected to generate $56 billion annually through the adoption of generative AI in the government sector, positioning Saudi Arabia as the first country in the Middle East to implement such advanced AI solutions at scale.
