
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA), unveiled seven cutting-edge digital initiatives that have significantly enhanced livestock health, water sustainability, and food security during the ministry's participation in a session titled "Fostering Sustainable Digital Innovation: Saudi Arabia's Approach to Digital Innovative Future" at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20) High-Level Event held in Geneva from July 7-11, 2025.
General Supervisor at MEWA's Information Technology and Digital Transformation Agency Dr. Abdulhamid Aleliwi took part in the session and presented the showcase titled "MEWA Innovative Initiatives Leveraging Emerging Technology and Artificial Intelligence" in the presence of Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union Doreen Bogdan-Martin, along with experts from the United Nations and the Kingdom.
The presentation highlighted the ministry's AI-powered Livestock Health AI Platform, which recently won the Certificate of Excellence at the WSIS 2025 Awards. This groundbreaking platform demonstrates Saudi Arabia's commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence for veterinary care and livestock management.
Dr. Aleliwi showcased the Kingdom's Smart Platform for Monitoring Water Resources, designed to offer comprehensive monitoring to conserve the Kingdom’s groundwater reserves.
The presentation also featured the Smart Monitoring of Slaughterhouses and Public Benefit Markets, demonstrating Saudi Arabia's integrated approach to food security and public health protection.
The key highlight was the ministry's collaboration framework with the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). Dr. Aleliwi detailed the joint efforts to establish the AI Center for Environment, Water, and Agriculture, emphasizing its crucial role in supporting digital innovation.
The presentation covered the ministry's advances in AI, highlighting how these technologies have improved operational processes and decision-making capabilities across the environmental, water, and agricultural sectors.
