Libya resumes crude flow through Sharara-Zawiya pipeline

Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) on Tuesday reopened valve 7 on the Sharara-Zawiya pipeline, allowing crude oil pumping to resume in a regular manner and restoring flows gradually to normal levels after the pipeline had been shut for several days.

In a statement, the NOC said technical and operational teams at the site immediately began implementing engineering arrangements and precautionary measures to ensure a safe restart and stable pumping operations toward the Zawiya refinery and export terminals, in line with the highest safety and technical standards.

The NOC estimated that the five-day closure resulted in the loss of 942,376 barrels of production, valued at nearly $95 million. The company was also forced to shut down one unit at the Zawiya refinery due to reduced crude supplies.
