Key Takeaways
AIEconomic and digital transformation expert Fawaz Nashar said that the growth in digital consumer behavior reflects increasing digital maturity and easier access to e-commerce platforms.
Speaking to Al Ekhbariya TV, Nashar added that the rise in digital consumer activity indicates the presence of accessible infrastructure for these platforms.
He noted that while traditional consumers were accustomed to shopping in person, they are now turning to digital platforms, with the customer experience becoming a major draw. He pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic changed general consumer behavior, with a significant shift away from cash payments toward the use of bank-issued consumer cards.
Nashar explained that this shift in behavior was initially driven by the circumstances of the pandemic, but today, there is greater financial awareness and consumers are increasingly benefiting from using these cards and their associated rewards. Previously, consumers would purchase both essential and non-essential items indiscriminately, but now they actively seek out discounts promoted on social media. This, he said, is strong evidence that new purchasing habits are helping consumers avoid unnecessary spending.
