Key Takeaways
AILegal consultant Rabab Al-Muaibi explained the distinction between fair competition and unfair competition.
Speaking in an interview with Al-Ikhbariya Radio, she said the Competition Law comprises 28 articles that clarify all aspects of fair and unfair competition.
She added that Article 2 of the law outlines its objectives, which focus on protecting and promoting fair competition, as well as combating and preventing monopolistic practices that negatively impact legitimate competition or consumer interests, thereby affecting the market and economic growth.
Al-Muaibi continued that unfair competition refers to actions that violate this definition. The law does not prohibit businesses from competing in terms of performance, quality, or offering better prices, but it does ban any practices, agreements, or contracts intended to undermine competition.
She further stated that unfair competition is clearly defined in the law through specific points and articles. These include practices that affect product value, market division, or obstruct the entry of other traders or competitors.
