Saudi Arabia records over 249 million point-of-sale transactions in one week

Saudi Arabia recorded 249,682,000 point-of-sale transactions between August 9 and 15, 2026, with a total value of 14,191,529,000 riyals (SAR), compared to 14,596,013,000 riyals in the previous week.

According to the Saudi Central Bank's weekly report, the number of transactions in the transport sector reached 7,127,000, amounting to 1,062,042,000 riyals. Healthcare saw 9,799,000 transactions worth 846,033,000 riyals. Restaurants and cafes accounted for 60,235,000 transactions totaling 1,823,980,000 riyals, while bakeries and confectioneries recorded 6,278,000 transactions valued at 240,800,000 riyals. Hotels registered 1,047,000 transactions worth 348,782,000 riyals. Food and beverage outlets saw 58,088,000 transactions with a value of 2,196,275,000 riyals. Clothing and accessories had 10,532,000 transactions totaling 1,243,800,000 riyals, and culture and entertainment recorded 3,941,000 transactions worth 349,417,000 riyals.

Professional and commercial services reported 16,121,000 transactions valued at 838,048,000 riyals. Electronics and electrical appliances saw 2,075,000 transactions worth 194,742,000 riyals. Furniture and home supplies recorded 2,641,000 transactions totaling 422,875,000 riyals. Building materials and construction registered 3,050,000 transactions worth 393,604,000 riyals. Jewelry saw 294,000 transactions valued at 320,013,000 riyals. Telecommunications had 5,068,000 transactions totaling 179,133,000 riyals, and education recorded 160,000 transactions worth 446,079,000 riyals.

Utilities and public services accounted for 830,000 transactions valued at 55,114,000 riyals. Fuel stations saw 18,082,000 transactions worth 1,021,976,000 riyals. Laundry services recorded 2,949,000 transactions totaling 53,282,000 riyals, while other services accounted for 41,365,000 transactions valued at 2,155,534,000 riyals.

By city, Riyadh led with 79,801,000 weekly point-of-sale transactions worth 4,839,468,000 riyals. Mecca recorded 9,709,000 transactions valued at 573,665,000 riyals, and Madinah saw 9,586,000 transactions totaling 567,188,000 riyals.

Tabuk recorded 4,540,000 transactions worth 227,510,000 riyals, Hail had 4,224,000 transactions totaling 219,187,000 riyals, Abha saw 4,697,000 transactions valued at 263,375,000 riyals, and Buraidah registered 5,470,000 transactions worth 343,924,000 riyals.

In Alkhobar, there were 4,676,000 transactions valued at 382,570,000 riyals. Dammam saw 9,136,000 transactions totaling 651,955,000 riyals. Jeddah recorded 27,700,000 transactions worth 1,880,252,000 riyals, while other cities accounted for 28,517,000 transactions valued at 1,109,260,000 riyals.
