Saudi point-of-sale transactions hit SAR 13.4bn in one week

Point-of-sale transactions in Saudi Arabia totaled 243.589 million during the week of September 20 to 26, 2026, with a total value of SAR 13.37285 billion, up from SAR 12.921997 billion in the previous week, according to the Saudi Central Bank's weekly POS report.

The food and beverage, and restaurant and café sectors accounted for a significant share of the week's transactions. Food and beverage transactions reached 56.229 million, valued at SAR 2.113449 billion, while restaurants and cafés recorded 58.732 million transactions worth SAR 1.7587 billion.

Transactions classified as "other" amounted to 40.118 million, totaling SAR 1.974559 billion. Fuel stations saw 18.192 million transactions worth SAR 992.756 million, and the transport sector recorded 6.948 million transactions valued at SAR 946.678 million.

The clothing and accessories sector saw 10.607 million transactions worth SAR 1.180651 billion. Healthcare transactions reached 9.730 million, totaling SAR 865.290 million, and professional and commercial services recorded 14.782 million transactions valued at SAR 717.2 million.

Among other sectors, furniture and home supplies saw 2.778 million transactions worth SAR 576.607 million; building materials and construction had 2.949 million transactions totaling SAR 393.759 million; and culture and entertainment recorded 3.815 million transactions valued at SAR 373.629 million.

Jewelry transactions totaled 344,000, valued at SAR 341.207 million. Hotels recorded 898,000 transactions worth SAR 311.146 million. Bakeries and confectioneries saw 6.284 million transactions totaling SAR 246.97 million, while electronics and electrical appliances recorded 2.051 million transactions worth SAR 206.556 million.

Telecommunications registered 5.235 million transactions valued at SAR 181.814 million. The education sector saw 138,000 transactions worth SAR 87.556 million. Utilities and public services recorded 869,000 transactions totaling SAR 55.121 million, and laundry services saw 2.890 million transactions worth SAR 49.202 million.

By city, Riyadh led with SAR 4.686489 billion in weekly POS transactions from 80.875 million transactions, followed by Jeddah with SAR 1.845958 billion from 27.635 million transactions, and Dammam with SAR 677.695 million from 9.780 million transactions.

Makkah recorded 9.546 million transactions worth SAR 550.649 million, and Madinah saw 9.484 million transactions valued at SAR 536.031 million. Other cities accounted for 26.536 million transactions totaling SAR 997.77 million.

In Alkhobar, there were 5.152 million transactions worth SAR 397.754 million; Buraidah recorded 5.613 million transactions valued at SAR 346.262 million; Tabuk saw 4.506 million transactions worth SAR 212.855 million; Hail recorded 4.184 million transactions totaling SAR 202.704 million; and Abha saw 2.955 million transactions worth SAR 151.347 million.
