Border Guards seize 245 kg of hashish in Jazan

Saudi Border Guards seized a haul of 245 kilograms of hashish at a security checkpoint in the governorate of Al-Daer; in the southwestern region of Jazan, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.

The successful operation was also part of the continued efforts of the Border Guards to thwart attempts of criminal networks to smuggle drugs across the Kingdom's borders.

Commenting on the case, Lt Col. Misfer Al-Quraini, the spokesperson for the Border Guards, also said that a total of 12 individuals; 11 Ethiopians and one Yemeni national — involved in the smuggling bid. They arrested and referred all of them to the competent authorities for required legal procedures.

Al-Quraini also stressed that the Border Guards will not be negligent in carrying out their duties and confronting anyone; who tries to undermine the border security, warning of strict punitive measures.
