Saudi Arabia replace Iran to host Asian Men’s Handball Championship

Saudi Arabia will host the 20th Asian Men's Handball Championship "Qualifiers for the Men's World Championship in Poland and Sweden 2023", announced the Executive Committee of the Asian Handball Confederation in a meeting yesterday during which it decided to withdraw the tournament from Iran and grant hosting the event to Saudi Arabia.

The tournament is scheduled to be held during the period from January 18-31, 2022, with the participation of Asian teams, where the top five teams will qualify to the World Cup in Poland-Sweden 2023.

In remarks on the decision, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Handball Federation Fadel Al-Nimr praised the wise leadership's permanent support for the sports sector, appreciating the Minister of Sports, President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, and Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, for their follow-up and support for the hosting bid, culminated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's success in hosting world's largest tournaments and events.
