Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah has warned against the laxity on the part of the public in adhering to precautionary measures ahead of Eid Al-Fitr.

Al-Rabiah said in several tweets on Wednesday: "Go to Eid prayer with your own carpet; wear the mask constantly; sanitize your hands before and after the Eid; leave a safe distance between you and others."

"I am keen on you; and I want your safety."

"Beware of kissing or hugging children; even though children infections are minor or without symptoms; but they transmit the infection heavily; so it is important to protect the elders; especially those who have not yet received the vaccine;" the minster added.

Al-Rabiah recalled what happened during last year's Eid Al-Adha saying: "I still remember with sadness Eid Al-Adha of the last year; when; at that time; people were careless in applying precautionary measures; due to which the infections increased and resulted in the loss of 2;000 person."

"Please do not make this festival into an Eid of sorrows."

Meanwhile; the Ministry of Health has announced on Wednesday that more than 11 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered through 587 vaccination centers across Saudi Arabia.
