Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) announced on Saturday the suspension of all flights from and to Sudan until further notice. The suspension of the flights was announced after one of its planes was involved in an accident at Khartoum International Airport. Saudia said that one of its planes, Airbus 4330, Flight No. (59458) had an accident before it took off for Riyadh at 7:30 a.m., Saturday.
It has confirmed that there was immediate response by the emergency team. It has noted that a working team is operating alongside with all the competent authorities, including Saudi Arabia's embassy in Sudan, to receive more information regarding the accident. Saudia also indicated that it will announce more information about this incident through its social media platforms.
It is worth mentioning that King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah and King Khalid Airport in Riyadh called on travelers heading to Khartoum International Airport to communicate with the carrier before heading to the airport, to ensure updates on their flight schedules. In a statement issued by the Kingdom's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saudi Arabia has expressed its deep concern about the escalation and the military clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan.
